The Palace Parks
The Royal Palaces are surrounded by beautiful parks, which are worth visiting as destinations in their own right. All the parks are open every day of the year, 24 hours a day.
The Royal parks have their own unique characters. Here you can discover stylistic ideals from different periods, such as the rigid, formal style of the 17th century Baroque and the 18th century's romantic, uncultivated English park style.
Several of the parks are set in attractive waterside locations. The parks are also home to sculptures and historic buildings. On Royal Djurgården, Sweden's most popular recreation area, there are extensive walking paths and many national memorials. Haga Park has a number of interesting park buildings, which were built by King Gustav III. Gripsholm has its own nature reserve, Hjorthagen, and Drottningholm Palace Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – has a large collection of sculptures by Adriaen de Vries.
All the parks are open every day of the year, 24 hours a day. You can come here to enjoy relaxation and walks through nature, whatever the season.
Please note: Remember to keep dogs on a lead, and dispose of your litter properly. Always leave the park as you would like to find it.
