Drottningholm Palace – Restaurant and café, Drottningholm

Drottningholms' Restaurant and Café

The visitors' centre in the white building beside the palace's waterfront – known as Karamellan – also houses Drottningholm Palace Café. Here, classic Swedish home cooking is served together with coffee, pastries, sandwiches, beer and wine.

There has been a Swiss-style café at Drottningholm Palace since the latter half of the 19th century. This type of café, where visitors could enjoy coffee and fancy pastries, was a common feature of public parks and tourist destinations in the 19th century.

Karamellan, as the building is now known, was built in 1903 to a design by the Court Architect Agi Lindegren. Karamellan enjoys a prominent position at Drottningholm Palace, which since 1991 has been inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
