Prince Eugen
1865-1947

The 70-year-old Prince Eugen was painted in 1935 by the Belgian artist Walter Vaes. The portrait was painted in Brussels at the time of the prince's own exhibition.

The artistically talented prince is depicted in a serious, almost melancholic tone. The portrait also expresses the prince's rich life experience and his famous noble personality.

The prince's lifework has been extremely significant in terms of Swedish art. He was known for his generosity, and supported many contemporary artists financially.
